PokerStars Table

In a gambling house,

the players stand around a table on which a layout is marked to show the available bets and the odds offered by the house on each one. Bets are placed on this layout, and the dice are thrown on the same table. A retaining wall surrounds the table, and the dice must be thrown so as to hit the wall and bounce back, or the dice must be thrown over a string stretched across the table

The dealers pay and collect bets, and one of them handles the dice, recovering them when they have been thrown and returning them to the shooter.

All bets must be placed against the pokerstars house.

Many more such bets are invited than are found in a private Crap game; the layout illustrated is only one of dozens which are found in different parts of the United States. The house derives its profit from the fact that it has mathematical advantage in every bet; out of whatever money is wagered against it, it may expect to keep a certain proportion. The following table shows the most common bets, and how much the house should expect to keep out of every dollar bet against it; this is known as the house percentage.

In some cases the odds offered by the house are even less than those listed below,

in which case the advantage of the house is even greater. On many layouts the actual odds being offered are disguised by the use of the word for. If the, house, for example, pays 4-to-i odds, the winner of a bet receives his $1 back together with $4 paid by the house, a total of $5. Some houses quote these odds by offering fivefor one, meaning that for every $1 the bettor puts up, he receives, when he wins, $5- including his own $1. This is equivalent to odds of 4-to-1. stand-off on 1-2 instead of i-i or 6-6 (see table of odds).

When the more elaborate layout is used,

the house collects 1l bets on high, low, odd, even, and on the pokerstars combination nbers (4 to 17) when any triplet appears; thus, a player who bets on nine does not win if the number is 3-3-3.
